“Seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have sent you…Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.” Jeremiah 29:7
CityServe is a movement to unite and mobilize churches, businesses, organizations, and city leaders to love and serve their city.
In 2008, the Luis Palau Association partnered with leaders in the faith, civic, and business communities to work for the common good in Portland, Oregon. More than 27,000 volunteers from all sectors of society worked to meet some of Portland’s most vital needs during this very first “Season of Service.” Now, the initiative has become a long-term vision for city transformation.
Through the Palau Association’s efforts and partnership, other cities followed suit. Houston, San Diego, Sacramento, Little Rock, and Phoenix have their own growing citywide movements. Across these cities, local governments and evangelical churches are breaking down walls, de-bunking stereotypes, and proving that we have much more in common than anyone ever imagined. And the momentum is building.
