Caring for Neighbors with Compassion

On September 28th, Cedar Mill Bible Church is hosting the Compassion Beaverton Clinic, which provides free medical and dental care to those without health insurance or in need of care. This example of neighborhood service is not unique to Cedar Mill, but shows how a much larger model of care can be applied to neighborhood churches everywhere.

Compassion Beaverton is a catalytic event designed to show the love of Jesus to the greater Beaverton area by providing free health services. In the past, Compassion Beaverton has put on one large clinic for the entire region. Recently, individual churches have adopted the model and applied it to their own individual neighborhoods. These clinics remain a collaborative effort, with partners such as the city of Beaverton, Compassion Connect, and Medical Teams International.

These church-centered events pull together nurses, dentists, doctors, and volunteers from the congregation, that really care for their specific area's people and needs. Beaverton Foursquare Church and St. Matthew's Lutheran Church have also put on Compassion Clinics in their neighborhoods, with great success. The adopting of a collaborative model to provide service and care to a neighborhood is an admirable and inspiring effort!

Cedar Mill's Compassion Beaverton Clinic will be from 8AM to 3PM on Septermber 28, in their parking lot. Appointments can be made for service at the clinic from September 16-18 from 12PM to 3PM by calling 503-360-3994 and 503-501-8305.
