Kids' Rock Launches New Site!
A parent at Orenco Elementary in Hillsboro and the children's pastor at nearby Sonrise Church have teamed up to start Kids' Rock! at Orenco. Kids' Rock! is an afterschool program where kids learn about Jesus, worship, pray, and have fun doing it! The groups meet right in the school which makes it very accessible to kids.

With the addition of Orenco Elementary, the program will now be active in three area schools: Jackson Elementary (Hillsboro), Adams Elementary (Corvallis), and now Orenco (Hillsboro). The leadership of Kids' Rock! hopes to continue to reach more schools.

Katie Willis, the parent spearheading the new group, has already rounded up about ten parents to help with the program, so she's off to a tremendous start. "My prayer is that we will be reaching not only kids that already go to church, but also 'unchurched' kids," says Ms. Willis. "The vision for this program is outreach—to introduce kids to the knowledge of Jesus, especially those who may not have the opportunity to go to church."

Kevin VanLoo, children's pastor at Sonrise church, is teaming up with Ms. Willis in this effort. He adds, "We are really excited to get this program going! We seem to be getting some positive responses to the idea of connecting with Orenco Elementary and hope to be a helpful partner in the community."
