Soaring Eagles Mentoring Program

Grace Community Church is thankful for their neighbors and local community. The members of this Gresham area church want to make an impact in the lives of those around them—to meet felt needs and share the love of Jesus in practical ways.

With the number of broken families, households with two working parents, or single parent homes rising in the community, GCC wants to support the development of strong families. One way they have chosen to accomplish this is through the Soaring Eagles Mentorship Program.

This partnership between Grace Community Church and East Gresham Elementary School provides positive adult support and influence in the lives of kids who attend East Gresham Elementary School. This program strives to connect caring adults with kids who just need a little extra support. Kids and their mentors normally meet one hour a week, usually during lunch. During this time the mentors and students play games, talk and eat lunch together.

This type of mentoring has been proven to make a long term impact in the lives of children. Through this program, kids regularly meet with a mentor to learn how to communicate, problem solve, make decisions and form healthy relationships.

How to Become a Mentor
