Agape Blitz: An Opportunity for You to Serve this Summer!

on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 Posted in Happenings, School Partnership Network, Opportunities

Agape Blitz is an annual summer work project organized by the Agape Church of Christ. Agape Blitz (AB) started out as a simple day of service in 2007 and has grown to over six weeks of service.

AB seeks to emulate Jeremiah 29:7 "Seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper." This verse reflects our mission to serve and love the community of Portland with no strings attached. Through collaboration with various organizations and the countless service of different volunteers this outreach continues to serve the Portland metro area.

Through this ministry, volunteers have provided maintenance to over 20 different public schools, domestic violence shelters, built homes for the homeless, cared for the elderly, worked with at-risk children, and developed community gardens for low-income neighborhoods.

AB continues to be a bridge between the faith community and City of Portland. Through this endeavor many people have been served and tangibly shown the love of Christ. This event wouldn't be possible without the many volunteers that serve every summer.

Do you have a youth group, small group, or campus ministry that might want to do a work project during the summer? Do you have friends or business associates who wish to give back to the community? Can you volunteer for a day or more? We are seeking groups to join us this summer for a day or more, to help shine the light of Jesus in our city.
