Embrace Oregon Office Moms and Dads

More than 125 people from churches all across the Tri-County area are volunteering regularly to sit with children while they wait in a child welfare office. These "office Mom's & Dad's" have been background checked and approved through DHS, and get notified whenever children are on their way to a child welfare office.

DHS has a great need for more office moms and dads in Multnomah County and Washington County, specifically. Volunteers need to be available for this opportunity when DHS is open—8-5, Monday through Friday—which can make it challenging for many. Still it is an opportunity to provide tenderness and care for a child during their most traumatic time, while also freeing up their caseworker to get through paperwork and make the phone calls they need to make on behalf of the child.
