A Service of Hope and Healing

A Service of Hope and Healing
First came disbelief. Then the harsh reality. A week of frantic activity. This all too familiar scene played out once again at Reynolds High School on June 10, the day before school ended for the summer. The events on that Tuesday had left two young men dead, hundreds of other students and their families shaken, and the staff of both high school and the Reynolds District stretched to their limits. Christian Ministries on Our School Campuses

Youth for Christ (YFC) reaches young people by working with the local church to raise up lifelong followers of Jesus. Ministries include: Campus Life, Deaf Teen Quest, YFC Camp, and much more.

Young Life welcomes students from middle school to college age. Young Life's multicultural ministry, focused on kids in diverse cultural communities and those in economically-depressed areas, is arguably the largest of its kind in the United States.

Church works to transform DHS
River West Church is seeking to transform a local DHS office to be a place where kids are loved and cared for. So far, the church has transformed ten visitation rooms with bright colors on the walls and comfy couches to sink into, and created more than 400 welcome boxes with a handwritten note to give children a comforting presence as they step into uncertainty.

Your Community Care Projects Made a Difference!

During July and August, local churches made incredible efforts to serve public schools. Churches across the region participated in "Community Care Days" sponsored by their local school districts.

The "AGAPE BLITZ" is a service project which began 7 years ago as a one-day service project organized by the Agape Church of Christ that has grown into six weeks of service. Over the years the AGAPE BLITZ has worked with community based organizations like schools, non-profit organizations, and women's shelters.

Send us photos and stories from your community projects!

Care, Share, Be There, and Give Prayer with 11:45
11:45's mission is to mobilize hundreds of people from Portland area churches to volunteer for one year– once a week for forty-five minutes — to serve in strategic areas (There-Share-Care-Prayer) in order to aid in helping existing city and community efforts to stop gang violence and the aftermath on our streets.
